Qualifications - Clerk, Health Office

  •  Possess a high school degree or comparable equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of job-related related experience which demonstrates ability to work independently, with a minimum of supervision, and function in a dynamic, fast-paced, continually changing environment with frequent interruptions, OR
  • Documented credits from an accredited university, college, community college, certified nursing program, or business school may be used to fulfill or help fulfill the one (1) year of job-related experience. Forty-five (45) quarter or thirty (30) semester credits are equivalent to one full year of job-related experience.
  • Recency (prior 10 years) and substance of work experience will be considered in determining applicant qualifications
  • Experience with basic health-related tests or screening which demonstrates ability to maintain and manage a health room
  • Experience which demonstrates excellent customer service abilities, interpersonal skills, team player attitude, and the ability to manage situations
  • Experience which demonstrates a high level of attention to, and management of, detailed information
  • Experience which demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience which demonstrates excellent problem solving, analytical, and conflict resolution skills and ability to think quickly
  • Experience which demonstrates excellent written communication skills and have ability to compose and proof correspondence, as needed
  • Experience using Microsoft Office/Suite (including Word and Excel
  • Possess skill in working with numbers, mathematical computations, and worksheets
  • Willingness to learn new technology
  • Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in Gmail, Absence Management

Essential Functions:

  • Treats co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times

  • Answer telephone, take messages, forward calls and direct visitors
  • Ability to maintain and manage a health room, (i.e. assist nurse with medication requirements, and assist with maintaining record of immunizations, injury and treatment)
  • Ability to maintain and manage health room annex (HRA) and other associated duties as directed by the building administrator
  • Provide additional basic clerical support for other office clerical staff in building and administrators, as directed
  • May provide coverage during break and lunch periods
  • Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by administrator in alignment with their job classification

    

Qualifications - Paraeducator, Instructional & Learning Support: 

 

  • Documentation verifying a high school diploma or GED AND
  • One of the following: official transcripts verifying an Associate’s degree (90 quarter, 60 semester) OR 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited university, college, community college, or business school; OR ETS ParaPro Assessment result of 461 or higher
  • One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
  • Successful experience as part of an educational team preferred
  • Experience which demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and skills in working effectively in a team environment, providing support to achieve the desired goal(s) for the classroom and/or program area
  • Possess excellent problem solving, analytical, and conflict resolution skills and ability to think quickly

 

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and appreciate individuals from diverse, socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to learn and use a computer monitor, keyboard, and appropriate adaptive technologies
  • Ability to successfully implement educational programs and manage student behavior with direction from the teacher

Instructional:

  • With support from certificated teachers, identify student learning needs, monitor student progress toward learning goals, and maintain accurate student data
  • In cooperation with certificated teachers, work with individual students or small groups to achieve academic, behavioral, social emotional, basic life skills and other areas as assigned
  • Work with small groups of students some of whom have special needs, including behavior needs, assisting with class work
  • Monitor students to maintain an effective classroom environment that allows certificated teachers to provide small group or one-on one instruction
  • With guidance provided by certificated teachers, provide instruction where students are engaged and productive
  • Utilize lesson plans and follow verbal directions to provide targeted instruction to students as directed by the certificated teachers
  • Collect and communicate information regarding student progress to the certificated teachers in order for appropriate adjustments to interventions and supports to be made
  • With guidance provided by certificated teachers, assist to grade/correct papers and homework utilizing a rubric or key
  • Provide supervision and ensure safety and security of students
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by administrator in alignment with their job classification

Learning Support:

  • Support the appropriate certificated staff member(s) in developing specific goals for each student
  • Support the teacher in planning and evaluating overall learning goals and individual students' progress.
  • Independently oversee student(s) behavior and assist student(s) during class activities.
  • In conjunction with certificated staff member, assist with classroom activities or provide instruction to student. Assistance provided may include the following areas: academic subjects, basic life skills, social skills, and other areas as assigned.
  • Produce and assemble teaching materials as directed by teacher
  • Assist with data entry, record keeping, and filing
  • Grade/correct papers and homework utilizing a rubric or key
  • Oversee assigned students as they enter/leave school grounds, on the playground and in the cafeteria, or on field trips as directed by Special Ed certificated staff
  • Attend training meetings to broaden expertise in working with students with special needs
  • Responsible for collecting and sharing progress data 
  • Utilize technology to collect Individualized Education Plan (IEP) data and to inform work with students in goal areas
  • Lead small groups or individualized instruction in the areas of reading, writing, math, and social/behavioral skills
  • Support students in general education classrooms which may require the need to adjust, change or modify the assigned work as well as communicating and collaborating with the general education teacher about accommodations and modifications
  • Communicate clearly with special education teacher regarding student behavior, progress and needs
  • Implement suggestions and feedback from other staff related to specific students
  • Implement behavior support plans for students with behavior needs
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by administrator in alignment with their job classification
  • *If asked to perform diapering duty, "step up" to Special Program Paraeducator pay will apply

 

Benefits/Compensation:

 

Salary range:  New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range.  However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement.  Salary schedules can be accessed here.
